She has been painting portraits of Latinx people for about four years to bring more awareness and representation to the community. She recently began painting portraits of undocumented immigrants due to the lack of representation and political climate. About her artwork:

The artwork of Aliza Nisenbaum focuses on the portraits of undocumented immigrants from Mexico and Central America. As a Central American immigrant, I think it's important to see myself represented in art especially in today's political climate. She is giving an identity to the people that she paints because a lot of them live in the shadows due to their status in this country. There is a lack of representation when it comes to the Latinx community and the representation that we have it's not always positive. It's refreshing to see the Latinx community in artwork, especially by a Hispanic female artist.
